Interview with Oleg Soroko, Digital NFT Artist and Designer
Oleg Soroko aka After-Form is a professional digital artist, the headliner of digital art fairs, and the creator of the Illusorr educational platform. Oleg’s work with parametric art and design has a substantial impact on many industries, including automobile, furniture, and fashion.
Last month, Oleg made an exclusive NFT release for the Alium.Art marketplace. He presented his new digital artwork called “Wizard”, which is part of his new “Procedural Family” series. We wrap up with his advice to new artists just joining the NFT community and learn about the influences behind his art.
Could you tell me a bit about yourself, your background, and how you got into NFTs?
I started in architecture, and I have a master’s degree in urban planning, but now I’m working only on my personal art projects. The art field gives me more freedom for my experiments.
NFT boom hype happened with all digital artists. No one was prepared for this.
I am sincerely glad that digital art took this path. That’s just the beginning.
What is the biggest challenge you faced when you were getting started with NFTs?
I have to revive my old Twitter. Because the whole crypto community is very active on Twitter, but as it usually happens in my life, problems become advantages when you solve them.
Who or what inspires your art?
Everything around me inspires me. I’m looking into the future, talking with the past.
What are you working on now?
90 % of my personal projects are experimenting with algorithms based on creations. I’m searching for algorithms that people found in nature and describe in formulas to create a second nature — generated digital substance.
Is there any advice you would give to artists wanting to enter the NFT world right now?
NFT is just another technology. No need to wait for a certain level to enter. Better to grow inside.
